The planners allowed one storey. We were glad: it put the whole house at the height of the grass.
Everything is held below the top of the dune, so the house can't be seen from the beach. Larch cladding is left to weather to the colour of the sand, and the roof is planted with marram grass from the site.
A sheltered court cut into the middle of the plan lets you sit outside when the wind is blowing, which is most of the time.
