The studio · Porto and Rotterdam
We are architects, developers, researchers and model makers. Nobody here is too senior to draw, and nobody is too junior to say a drawing is wrong.

A–02What we believe
A good building is a long argument with a place. It should be cheap to repair, easy to change and hard to knock down.
We turn down about half of the projects we are offered, usually because we are not convinced they should be built at all.
Partners lead every project personally, and we keep the studio small enough for that to remain true.
A–03The way we’re set up

A workshop
in the studio
Our Porto studio has a timber workshop and a model room at its centre. Everything we build, we build small first.

Research that
leaves the office
Each year, 5% of our turnover pays for testing on real sites: timber on the coast, low-carbon concrete and reclaimed brick.

A developer
that draws
Aulden Developments buys sites and keeps a share of what it builds, so we live with the results of our decisions.
